Micheal Jordan,Ben,and Tomlin...
So I m reading a post-gazette article on Ben and I can't stop thinking about a game I saw Michael Jordan play back in the NBA finals. It was a game in which all the news agencies were doubting he'd be able to play due to high fever and the flu. Not only did he play, he put on a performance that cemented in my mind that he was, in fact, the greatest basketball player I've ever seen.
Ben and his obsessive desire to win, is a lot like Jordan s.... Ben s injured shoulder, no AB... no Bell, no Williams...Well,I googled an article on Jordan's game..June 11, 1997. I 've posted it below.
I believe Ben will be sharp, mentally with good decisions, physically, with crisp accurate passes. I believe I will be, in 20 years , reading
an article on how Ben cemented his legacy on Jan 17,2015. I believe...
Tomlin has his flaws. well discussed on this site, and rightfully so. But his greatest strengths are: He gets his team to believe... they buy into his way. You can hear it in their interviews: they all say his quotes... He also doesn 't dwell at all when a player goes down. He acknowledges it, and moves on...and the team does too. I've also posted the post gazette article. By the end of it...shit... he got me believing. I won't be surprised if we win, I will be surprised if we lose...
Here's the articles in the order I read them....so hopefully this wave of confidence can spread to all of Steelerfury.

I agree. We win! He will have a superb game. We will also win because having AB out will be a positive. The offense has become too singularly focused on AB. Don't get me wrong he is great and a great teammate, but a one game hiatus will help show what even distribution can do for this offense, and when he comes back for AFCCC, we will have the TRUE team on offense!
If AB was to have a 15 catch day, all that means is 5 receivers need to catch 3 more balls than they normally would.
Ben has done that many times. we might have 7 guys with receptions tomorrow. Ben gets back to his roots and becomes distributor in chief.
This is posted by an MJ fanatic too. I have literally seen every one of his games that was ever broadcast after the slam-dunk competition. Thank god for WGN!
I have said this before. The level of enjoyment brought by MJ is the same feeling I get watching BB. Obviously not apples to apples with the sport 33 versus 5(counting special teams), but I expect victory every game with BB.
Victory is guaranteed!

If Oscar was allowed to function with same freedom....
Jordan did take over a game like no one else but the most incredible performance on court I've ever seen was a street game in Harlem on the playground where the Rucker tourney was played between NBA champs Knicks and ABA champs Nets. Willis did not play, DR J went off, played street ball and did things that Michael couldn't do.
Ben is knocking on the door of the inner sanctum of the HOF. Stay tuned.

I was a huge Jordan and Bulls fan growing up.
What is not mention in the article is that he knew that physically he didn't have his normal burst so he focused more on his fundamentals . the sickness caused him to heighten his mental checklist during every possession. Let's hope Ben continues his "no picks equal a win" streak

I, like many have this weird comfortable feeling in my guts. To my core. Everything in me says we're going to win. I have no idea why.
We'll probably come crashing back to earth tomorrow with a loss and I'll credit this feeling I have now to probably being so happy we ended the Bungles season last week.
I'll be rooting and praying like no other!
Believe!

I remember that game. Hope you're right. But, big difference between the flu and a separated shoulder on a QB. Might be more analogous if Jordan had a sprained MCL or some knee injury.

Jordan led the Bulls to victory. If he didn't, no one would care. Lots of guys throughout the history of the NFL (and NHL) played through ridiculous injury (hello Joe Klecko and Duncan Keith). It only is memorable if they win.
Ben leading the team to victory would be every bit as legendary as his toss to Santonio. I just worry about him getting injured even worse.

How about Isiah Thomas dropping like 30 in the 2nd half against the Lakers on an ankle swelling to the size of a softball? Except they lost, but otherwise right up there with Jordan's game.

Ben comes back, Tomlin doesn't = CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

See, I appreciate Isiah on a bum wheel more than Jordan with the flu. I don't know, just me. I do tons of shit when I'm flu ridden.
IMO, if Ben plays and wins, that's way above and beyond Jordan playing sick.
