Re: Swamp Fever
IMHO, they will draft Lee Hunter if they think they are done with Benson. They are the same type of player. Hunter does not have the sand in his pants to play NT but will be a good 3 tech. for context, Keeanu is the same age as Banks and just a year older than Hunter. Hunter had 2.5 sacks vs. colle...

Re: McCarthy Coordinators & Coaches
Two names for McCarthy’s OC position to watch are New Orleans Saints quarterbacks coach Scott Tolzien and Minnesota Vikings tight ends coach Brian Angelichio. Tolzien is out. Which this hiring season has been an indicator that the final decision will be announced (or leaked) within hours. As i woul...

Re: A take on McCarthy
This is entirely false He is absolutely correct From Tomlin’s initial hire through Haley and Dick Butler, his coordinators were chosen by the FO Lebeau to Butler Arians to Haley not until those coordinators were gone, was Tomlin given authority to choose his guys Which we know, sucked i don’t know ...

Re: Kubiak to the Raiders
Getting a good young qb with the first overall pick is the obvious draw for a young offensive mind right and likely allowed to have a clean slate that allows them to fully build their vision that is certainly riskier but maybe more appealing 1st overall pick, $100M cap space, solid D and some good ...

I think it’s just money. Cards and raiders offering ~2X what steelers were willing to pay.

The next OC, Scott Tolzien? Has Dallas and GB ties, too, with MCarthy coincidentally  https://steelersdepot.com/2026/01/fowler-steelers-to-interview-scott-tolzien-for-offensive-coordinator-role/ Tolzien actually seems like a good, qualified candidate so the cynic in me kind of expects that to...

https://steelersdepot.com/2026/01/report-steelers-hiring-adam-henry-as-new-receivers-coach/ Adam Henry named WR coach Most recently with the Bills (yikes) but yes has worked with McCarthy in Dallas Weird to me to hire a WR coach with no offensive coordinator. Re: McCarthy Coordinators & Coaches
Just need to temper expectations. When was the last time the steelers hired a coach that was in high demand around the league? My memory gets a bit foggy prior to the past 30 years, but far as i’m aware the answer is ‘never’. So real question is what flavor of undesirable guys do we want, young guys...

Re: Rushing to hire McCarthy = sprinting to the podium during draft?
We all know the Steelers LOVE sprinting to the podium during the early rounds of the draft rather than take the allotted time and entertain possible trades. Was rushing to hire McCarthy when he had zero other offers equivalent to this common Steelers practice which I can only imagine is done to mak...

Re: Let’s Wait On McCarthy
One of the biggest mistakes that pro sports franchises make is not understanding where they are on the success cycle. This is the Steelers. They believe that they are championship contenders. Its totally delusional. Thus, they make moves like bringing in DK and Rodgers, patch up holes on the D with...

Re: Uh.... looking for a silver lining here....
I suspect that the main factor in having top up-and-coming young coaches is a willingness to pay to have top young up-and-coming coaches.
I don’t think McCarthy helps address that. Although if i’m wrong on this, he could prove it.

As negative/pessimistic as i am about how desirable the steeler hc job is at this point, Wow are we more attractive than the browns job. There’s just almost no names in existence that would make sense for them. Belichick, john harbaugh (oops). Cignetti? Saban?
Maybe they could trade for sirianni?
Need someone that’s at least better in the postseason OR a potential improvement to the defense, preferably both.

It’s gonna be Shula for HC and Scheelhaase for OC Jizz Only 5 vacancies are left and the two Rams guys and Kubiak are still out there. Steelers should get their top pick. What obvious blown calls in the BUF game? The last DPI the DB tackled the receiver before the ball got there. The interception the receiver was going to the ground, did not SURVIVE the ground, but the ball never touched the turf and ended up in the hands of the DB. Both calls were 100% correct. Not...

This should be one of the deepest drafts ever, so those late round picks should hit a lot pf good players even running yahoo autodraft.
So assume we’ll trade out of extra picks to bring home Ty Simpson.
